Seattle Engagement Photography – Y & J

Inspired by Yiqiu’s amazing collection of shoes, we decided that her engagement photos would be fashion inspired, with lots of bold colors, gorgeous outfits and great shoes. I think she and Jian both looked gorgeous. Despite the cold, Yiqiu and Jian really rocked their outfits and pictures. We were able to visit the Experience Music Project, Seattle Center and the Seattle Public Library.

Yiqiu and Jian, it was my pleasure meeting you two. I really look forward to your wedding next week, I know it’s going to be really beautiful!

Seattle Wedding Photography – Ronit and Rob

“Every little girl dreamed of the perfect guy she will one day marry when she grows up.” When Rob shows up in her life, Ronit knew instantly that he would be everything that she has ever wanted in a husband since she was 10 years old. These are the words that Ronit said during her wedding ceremony to Rob. She followed the speech by serenating a beautiful song to Rob. Her voice was divine, and the words she sang were so touching that my eyes blurred.

Ronit’s day started out at Willow’s Lodge in Woodinville, then church ceremony at the Church of Resurrection in Bellevue, followed by quick stops at the UW Arboretum and Gasworks Park, before finally arriving at China Harbor restaurant for the reception. Her wedding day make up was done by an artist from the Gene Juarez Salon in Redmond. The gorgeous bouquet is from QFC in Crossroad Mall.

We stopped by Gregg’s Cycle in Bellevue. This is where they met right before their first date.

Seattle Family Photography – Baby Isabel

I think I am a little biased, but I think baby Isabel is the cutest baby ever. Isabel’s dad, Cary, used to be one of my husband’s housemates. Through the years, I am happy to witness some of the important events. Cary met Dot and fell in love, I photographed the happy couple’s wedding in the early days of starting my photography business. When Dot asked me to photograph their baby daughter, I gladly accepted (maybe their wedding pictures didn’t turn out that bad). They not only have the cutest baby ever, they are also parents of two cute doggies, Charlie and Midori. Don’t tell my puppy Alex, but Charlie is my favorite doggie in the world.

Happy Chinese New Year

Today is the start of the year of Rabbit in the Chinese calendar, we here at Black Cat White Cat Photography wish you a very happy new year! May your coming year be filled with happiness, good health, friends, family and good fortune.

Annually there would be local celebrations for the Chinese New Year. For a few years now, I have been one of the event photographers for one of the largest Chinese New Year celebrations here in Seattle, this year is no exception. Here are some highlights from the event (including a local celebrity sighting!)

The following is definitely my favorite picture of the night. Yes, this is Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer participating in the traditional dragon dance. On his hands are two red envelopes. He’s teasing the dragons, not letting them have the red envelopes. It brought good laughter in the audience. We have never seen a dragon dance like that!

West highland terriers Seattle Pet Photography

Today I have the pleasure of meeting Bridget and Monique, two adorable west highland terriers. I have a hard time telling them apart, but their personalities are so different. And I can say by the end of our walk I finally managed to tell them apart.

Oh, the white dots on the pictures are not dirt on my camera sensor, they are actually snow flakes! We got our first snow of the winter here in the Seattle area. It didn’t stick though.

Monique’s first love is digging mole holes on the ground. This is what she did for 80% of our walk.

Marymoor Park – Seattle Pet Photography

I was supposed to be taking pictures of Ashley and Ivy but weather has not been cooperative here. I decided to take a walk in Marymoor Park despite the weather and I cannot believe that I actually ran into Ashley and Ivy. They are two beautiful young rescue Great Danes. This will be part one of their appearance here on Black Cat White Cat Photography. I also met a few other cuties at the park that I will be showing off here.

Seattle rainy day engagement

Around here, we have amazingly inaccurate weather forecasts, if we had known that today would be such a beautiful sunny day, Ronit and Rob would not have had to battle the rain yesterday at my expertly picked hour of peak rainfall. They didn’t really seem to mind the rain or the cold. We walked around Redmond town center for a romantic and fun engagement session in the rain. You go see it for yourselves, nothing can dampen their fun spirit and love for each other. The brilliant fall colors also helped light up a gloomy rainy day.

Bellevue Family Session

On one of the rare sunny days left before our long rainy season arrived, I was able to photograph a really wonderful family. Here are some of my favorite pictures from the session. Negar and Hadi, you have a really beautiful family, thank you for allowing me to capture it for you. For my homework, I really need to work on how to make the little ones smile.
